Richard Wexler
Richard Wexler is a street photographer. He’s always been fascinated by the little things that people do - their gestures, postures, expressions – as they interact with their worlds and invite us to create our own stories. Thanks to family and good fortune, Richard has lived for many years in Maine and has spent extended periods of time in Paris, NYC and Denver, perfect settings for his candid street shots. His most recent exhibition, “Paris Street Dance”, was on display at the Maine Jewish Museum during the summer of 2021.
Born in Baltimore, Richard studied medicine at Johns Hopkins and then practiced gastroenterology in Portland, Maine, with a strong emphasis on mind-body connections. He later became interested in quality improvement and then pursed a career as a medical director for a number of health care organizations in New England.
Photography has been a life-long interest of Richard’s and now, in his retirement from medicine, it’s more of a passion. He has studied photography at the Maine College of Art, Maine Community College, and in Paris with Valerie Jardin.
