John Duncan
I started photographing at Falmouth Middle School, after my dad gave me a camera that used 620 film. There was a camera club, and we used the janitor's closet as a darkroom. I was always fascinated by photojournalists, such as Robert Capa, David Douglass Duncan, and those photographers in the Magnum Group. Throughout my 73 years, I've traveled throughout the world, and lived in Sweden during the 80s, where my wife Susanne is from, and our two sons were born. I always say to myself that the camera sees things I don't, capturing split second moments of time. The streets are my world, and Portland is my home, which I've fallen in love with more and more since the publication of my first book, "Take it Easy-Portland in the 70s.
