Jenelle Stafford is an artist filmmaker, photographer, cinematographer and educator. She is interested in alternative ways of seeing and of using camera technologies. Working with Super 8, 16mm, smartphone cameras, film photography and historical photo printing processes, she is curious about interference with the image as critique and as play. Materiality and chances of process are central to her practice. Some guiding interests: lens technologies, gesture as extralinguistic modality, an aesthetic of incompleteness, nonmastery, collaboration and conversation.

Born in Hawaii and growing up largely in central Massachusetts, with significant stretches in Oregon, New Mexico and finally Iowa, Jenelle now lives in Portland, Maine where she’d like to stay. Jenelle joined the Bakery Collective in February 2024.
