Introduction to Black & White Photography
Andrew D. McClees is a photographer and bookmaker based in Portland, Maine. He runs the photo-publishing company wastelandbooks, and earned his MFA in Photography at Hartford Art School. Andrew has been a Core Member of The Bakery Photo Collective since 2022.

This introductory course for black and white film photography is designed to provide participants with an understanding of 35mm photography and the foundations for darkroom usage.
Through this experience you will understand the basics of darkroom printing and explore what makes a good print, as well as how to make those determinations for yourself.
At the end of the course, you’ll have developed several rolls of your own film, created a handful of prints, and be fully capable of working independently in the darkroom to continue with your personal darkroom printing practice.
