I hate change.
When I was in elementary school my older brother bought me a used Pentax K 1000 from a neighbor who fixed old cameras in a basement. He explained a few basic ideas, an explanation of how Eugene Smith used depth of field in a picture of Albert Schweitzer and some advice, “figure out what you want a picture of, and make sure you can’t see anything else, and if you like what you see, hit the button.”
I haven’t really learned anything beyond this, but I grew up in a bookstore, and had access to the canon of early black and white photographers of the 20th century, and have taken that aesthetic for my inspiration.
